Screen Shot 2015-11-29 at 2.17.23 PMIn an exclusive interview with VladTV, Former court Judge Joe Brown shared his experience while spending 5-days in a Memphis, Tennessee jail for contempt of court. Brown was representing a woman who was wanted for a warrant relating to a child-custody issue. As he explains in the interview, he took the case for free because he believed that the issuance of the warrant was bogus and lacked merit. Brown also said the last time he ever appeared in that particular courtroom was 40-years ago when then presiding judge thought he was a defendant and called him a “nigger” not realizing he was in fact an attorney. Judge Brown said that what he did was nothing different from what other civil rights leaders had done in the past like Dr. Martin Luther King and Stokely Carmichael.

Stokely Carmichael was a Trinidadian-American political activist best known for leading the civil rights group SNCC in the 1960s. Carmichael rose to prominence as a member and later the chairman of SNCC, working with Martin Luther King Jr. and other Southern leaders to stage protests. Carmichael later lost faith in the tactic of non-violence, promoting “Black Power” and allying himself with the militant Black Panther Party. Check out one of his famous speeches below.
