Ice Cube Says “Straight Outta Compton” Needed A Slave Character To Get The Nomination

Actor and rap star Ice Cube knows a thing or two about picking characters for his movies and suggested that the reason Straight Out of Compton didn’t receive the Academy nomination was because it was lacking a slave character which sounds plausible seeing what actors have won in the past. Cube was a guest on Power 105.1 with Angie Martinez and the two discussed the lack of diversity in the selection process on choosing Oscar nominees.
