How Republicans Act Like Nazis

    Mitt-Romney

Last week everyone was giving Mitt Romney a hard time because his Massachusetts healthcare plan looks exactly like Obama’s proposed federally mandated healthcare plan.

Now everyone is mad at him for his position on climate change!

    And what is that position?

“I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that,” Romney told a crowd of about 200 at a town hall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire.  “It’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors.”

“I also want to see us become more energy efficient. I’m told that we use almost twice as much energy per person as does a European, and more like three times as much as does a Japanese citizen. We could do a lot better. I’d like to see our vehicles, and our homes, and our systems of insulation and so forth become far more efficient. I believe that we have a role in trying to encourage that to happen,” he further stated.

So far Romney’s views about climate change in particular have put him at odds with many in his party’s base.

“Bye-bye, nomination,” Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday on his radio talk show after playing a clip of Romney’s climate remark.

Romney is well known for flip-flopping on issues to mirror public sentiment, but chose not to do so in this instance.

What, you ask, does this have to do with Nazis?

Republicans appear to operate from a set of beliefs and talking points from which no member can stray. If one does leave the herd, his chain is quickly yanked and if that doesn’t work, he is then ostracized.

Romney may be the Republican’s best bet for beating Obama so I don’t care if he is thrown to the wolves, off a cliff or under the bus. I just think it is sad that a candidate can’t be truly candid about anything for fear of risking the Republican nomination.
