Fifteen years ago today, Hip Hop lost a legendary talent. Rapper, actor, poet, and philosopher Tupac Amaru Shakur lost his life on September 13, 1996 as the result of a drive by shooting that still boggles the minds of many today. However, Tupac’s life and legacy has carried on throughout his music and growing generations of today’s time. Today, the Tupac Estate has chosen to release a statement in honor of the 15th Anniversary of Tupac’s death. See inside for more details and an interview from the late Tupac Shakur.
In a statement to AllHipHop.com, the Estate said, “It was Tupac’s greatest wish to inspire minds and spark the ideas that would change the world.” In additon to this, 2pac.com owned by Tupacs mother, Afeni Shakur, has launched a new section of the site which will feature Tupac’s works, videos, and stories from people that were inspired by Tupac’s talents. The new addition to the site will be displayed from September 13th through September 18th in honor of Tupac’s legacy.
