Lawyer Who is Representing Former Cop Garrett Rolfe Accused of Killing Rayshard Brooks Donates Money to DA Candidate in Atlanta

0
District Attorney Candidate Fani Willis & Attorney Noah Pines

They say timing is everything and it appears the attorney who is representing former Atlanta cop Garrett Rolfe might be trying to tilt the scales of justice in his client’s favor.

FOLLOWING THE MONEY

On June 30th, attorney Noah Pines who also was a former Dekalb County prosecutor donated $1000.00 to Fulton County DA candidate Fani Willis just two weeks after his client was charged with killing Rayshard Brooks in the parking lot of a Wendy’s restaurant in Atlanta. The discovery of the generous donation came to light when our investigative team researched the donations received by Ms. Willis after it was learned that she failed to disclose that she had received donations from Atlanta police officers in excess of $12,000.00. District attorney candidate Fani Willis & Attorney Noah Pines.

Pines accused Howard of violating ethics rules that bar him from making “extrajudicial comments that have a substantial likelihood of heightening public condemnation of the accused.” Pines also accused Howard of acting rashly by announcing charges before the Georgia Bureau of Investigation completed its investigation. Being that attorney Pine was a former district attorney himself, he is fully aware that the DA’s office doesn’t have to wait for the conclusion of a GBI investigation since the office is independent of other agencies such as the GBI. What ethics were at play when Mr. Pines made a sizable donation to Fani Willis’s campaign? While it is not uncommon for lawyers to support other lawyers campaigns, the timing of Mr. Pines supporting Ms. Willis raises eyebrows. Amended disclosure report filed by district attorney candidate Fani Willis shows contribution made by attorney Noah Pine who represents Garrett Rolfe who is charged with killing Rayshard Brooks

Mr. Howard and Ms. Willis are in a run-off election on August 11, but for whatever reason, Rolfe’s attorney wasn’t a supporter of Willis until after his client was charged with felony murder. Is attorney Pine banking on Mr. Howard losing the race? Does he believe his client will have a better chance with Ms. Willis if she miraculously wins the election?

PAUL HOWARD RECEIVES A UNLIKELY ENDORSEMENT

Former challenger Christian Wise Smith, who was running for the same seat has also announced that he intends to support Mr. Howard’s bid for re-election and he cites the reason that he could not support Ms. Willis in a scathing rebuke of her during a recent interview with rapper/actor and podcast host Clifford ‘Tip” Harris on the show expediTiously.

Mr. Howard’s opponent Fani Willis has aggressively engaged in smear tactics during her campaign towards her former boss accusing him of only charging Garrett Rolfe in the death of Rayshard Brooks for political reasons. The fact is that Howard has prosecuted more bad cops in Georgia than any other district attorney around the nation in his 20 plus years in office.

We asked Mr. Howard in a exclusive interview whether or not has he ever remembered a police union supporting the prosecution of police since he’s has been a DA and he stated that he has never and that he has not ever received the endorsement of a police union since he’s been in office.

Howard has charged Garrett Rolfe with felony murder, Aggravated Assault, violation of Oath of Office and other related charges. Mr. Howard has also charged former APD cop Devin Brosnan with Aggravated Assault and violation of oath of office. A Fulton county judge granted Rolfe a $500,00.00 secured bond and Devin Brosnan was granted a $50,00.00 signature bond, both have since been released from jail.

This is a developing story.

Book Review: An In Depth Guide To Hiring A Music Publicist

[contact-form][contact-field label=”Name” type=”name” required=”true” /][contact-field label=”Email” type=”email” required=”true” /][contact-field label=”Website” type=”url” /][contact-field label=”Message” type=”textarea” /][/contact-form]

So, you have decided to hire a music publicist (PR) company to promote your project. You’ve written the check – now all you have to do is sit back and become famous, right?

Er, not so much. In addition to the obvious fact that there are absolutely, positively no guarantees that even the best PR campaign will be successful, there are many things you can do to help – and hurt – the progress of said campaign. To get more bang for your PR buck and help your music PR company out, keep the following in mind:

Make Sure Your PR Company Has The Materials They Need – If they ask you for 50 promo CDs out of their jewel cases, don’t say, “here’s 100 copies of my album with full liner notes in a colored jewel – I thought that would be better” or “no one listens to CDs anymore! Here’s an MP3.” Your PR company requests the things they request for a reason, so it’s best to defer to their expertise – that is why you’re paying them after all. Likewise, if they ask for new photos for you to update your site or anything else, the sooner you do it, the sooner they can get to work.

Keep Them Updated – Booked a new show? Tell your PR company. Decide to release a single? Tell your PR company. Got your friend at the local paper to write a review? Tell your PR company. Don’t expect them to keep up with your news via your website, newsletter, social networking platform or anything else. No matter how much they like your music, you can’t communicate with them like they are your fans. They need to be the first to know when something happens, both so they can use it to promote your music and so they don’t sound like morons when a journalist informs them about some news regarding your project that they found elsewhere.

Let Them Do Their Jobs – If you have a personal relationship with a journalist/blogger/other media person, and you think that an email from you would be better than an email from your PR company, then tell your PR company that you will cover that person so they don’t. Otherwise, don’t try to jump in the mix, follow-up with people that your PR company has approached about your project or anything else. Journalists get TONS of emails and calls daily from people looking for coverage/reviews. It doesn’t help to double up. An email from you when your PR company has already reached out will almost always be confusing, be annoying and actually hurt your chances of getting the coverage you want. It may seem like a call from you would encourage someone to give you that coverage, but really, no one – not your PR company and not you – can MAKE someone write about your project. Instead, at best, you’ll be putting the journalist and the PR company in an awkward position. At worst, you’ll annoy someone so much that you’ll help them decide once and for all NOT to write about you.

Be Honest – One of the most embarrassing things you can do to kill your career is get caught lying to a journalist or reporter. When doing an interview you should have already been prepped by your PR company as to how to answer certain uncomfortable questions. Its always best not to answer a question than to get caught in a lie. A seasoned reporter has many contacts in their profession and fact checking is a very important part of what they do. A publicists’ job is already difficult and they should not have to figure out how to cover up one of your lies. Be honest with them and together you and your publicist can figure out the best way to handle difficult questions.

Be Available – Nothing is worse for a PR company than to set up an interview for one of their clients’ and then to get a call from the writer that no one answered the phone/answered the email questions/showed up for the interview. You may not get another chance, so if you tell your PR Company you can be available at a certain time, do it.

Be Patient and Realistic – PR campaigns can move slowly, and some may end up not moving at all. Brainstorming about new approaches with your PR Company is a good thing. However, remember to be patient and realistic about how your campaign is coming along. Any number of factors, including the time of year of the campaign, the other releases you’re competing for coverage with, how early you started your campaign and whether or not this is your first big PR push, can affect the success and speed of success of your campaign. You’ll have a much smoother relationship with your PR Company if you work with them to develop a plan to try to tackle your obstacles instead of expecting them to magically make your obstacles disappear.

Never Put Your Team In A Compromising Position – PR firms are like lawyers and accountants in the sense that they have to maintain a certain code of conduct. You should NEVER ask them to do anything that could be perceived as unethical or illegal. Their reputation is above all why you hired them in the first place. Why would you want to do anything to harm them in the first place?

Don’t Play Let’s Make A Deal with A Publicists’ Fee – Lawyers are successful because of their understanding of the law. Accountants are successful because they understand how to develop financial systems. Publicists on the other hand are successful because of their contacts and relationships they have established in their career. These are considered intangible assets for a potential client especially one who has very little of his or her own and they must understand those relationships comes with a price and are not to be given away like a piece of candy. Ask yourself this question; would it be fair to ask your criminal attorney to defend you in a murder trial at a discounted rate? Is it wise to have your CPA track your finances at a reduced fee even though he is saving you money in the long run? Then why is it right to ask a publicist to reduce their fee to help you achieve your goal as a successful artist when their services are just as invaluable as the two previous examples? Their job is not to figure out how you are going to pay them, on the contrary that is your responsibility. Remember that a Publicist can’t do their job effectively off a promise to pay at a later date. That type of thinking is just pure foolishness and unrealistic.

What Type of Fees to Pay Your Music Publicist – While fees a publicist will charge may vary depending on their geographical location, typically an experienced Publicist will charge an unsigned artist $1500.00 – $2000.00 per month and a junior publicist fee is around $10.00 per hour. At that rate, you should expect a Publicist to devote about 30 hours a month on your particular project. Please note that if you are a signed artist to a major record label, those fees will be much higher depending on the publicist you are working with.

Kevin Hart Suffers Major Injures in Car Crash

0

kevin-hart-e1559943369318Kevin Hart has suffered major back injuries from a car accident which occurred just before 1 a.m. on Sunday.

After veering off the road, Hart’s car was found in a ditch early Sunday morning on the Mulholland Highway. On the way down, the car smashed through wooden fencing along the roadside and the roof was completely crushed by the impact, according to TMZ.

While the car belongs to Hart, he was not driving it at the time. Two other victims were in the car with him, one, the driver who also suffered major back injuries, and the other a woman who did not require hospital treatment. The driver had not been drinking, according to TMZ. Hart was picked up by a member of his security team, where he went home “to get medical attention.”

The driver was found pinned to the seat under the crushed roof, as well as the woman. Fire fighters reportedly had to saw off the roof to free them. The driver was later airlifted to the UCLA Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this point as well as Hart’s.

Earlier on Saturday, Hart posted a video of himself and his vintage car, and someone can be heard yelling at him as he spun out his tires on the street.

Hart bought the car back in June as a 40th birthday present to himself.

Fetty Wap Arrested for Altercation on Las Vegas Strip

Fetty_Wap_Video_Still.jpgFetty Wap was arrested Sunday, Sept. 2 for allegedly punching a Las Vegas valet at the Mirage Hotel and Casino.

Things between the valet and Fetty got very heated and Fetty eventually punched the man at least three times, according to hotel staffers. One of the workers made a citizen’s arrest, as he held Fetty until the Las Vegas Metro PD arrived to take him into custody, according to TMZ.

After he was taken in, he was booked for three counts of misdemeanor battery, seemingly a charge for each punch he allegedly threw. However, Fetty was only in jail for several hours before he was released. His court date with the judge will likely be sometime soon.

Fetty is no stranger to run-ins with the law. Back in June, he allegedly assaulted a woman on the set of his music video, and was later put under investigation for felony battery, according to TMZ. He has not yet been charged for the alleged assault.

Fetty Wap and his team have yet to comment on the Vegas altercation.

Travis Scott Says He And Cardi B Are On Good Terms Despite Grammy Drama

Kylie-Jenner-Travis-Scott-and-Stormi-1024x683Despite what fans may think after watching his new documentary, Travis Scott says there is no beef between him and Cardi B.

In his recent Netflix documentary, Travis Scott: Look Mom I Can Fly, there is a part where the rapper is visibly upset when he loses to Cardi B in taking home the Grammy for the Best Rap Album for Invasion if Privacy. This caused many fans to believe that Travis was mad at Cardi.

Sources close to Travis said his disappointment was nothing personal against Cardi, according to TMZ. They said that he was mostly upset because of all the hard work that he had put into his 2018 album, ASTROWORLD. Simply put, he really wanted to win the Grammy. However, they say he quickly got over the loss.

Cardi even defended herself on Twitter against some of Travis’ fans saying, “I wasn’t even thinking of winning or even the Grammies. All I can think about was…everybody is disappointed in me, am I still going to have a career after this baby? Is this album going to make me or break me ? I need to finish before I start showing.”

She continued, “So when I won a Grammy for it I didn’t have no words to say but when I went home I started reminiscing on what I went thru during that period I was like YEA BITCH YOU DESERVE THIS SHIT! And until this day my shit still charting.”

Cardi and Travis have reportedly always been cool with each other. Cardi’s husband Offset even attended the Netflix premiere for the documentary. Travis has a long history of working with members of the Migos, as he was featured on their song Kelly Price, and even has a collaborative album with Quavo.

As shown in the documentary, Travis will only use the loss as motivation for the future.

New Music Alert: Og Illa – ‘Water Bill’

0

OG Illa is a Richmond, VA-based artist who loves a good song about a party, as long as it’s not corny, and it’s submerged in sex. His new single, “Water Bill,” is an 808-driven anthem that showcases just how much he brings to the table. His absorbing and fast-paced flows contrast with the seductive beat beautifully. The accompanying video showcases the rapper and a bunch of women dancing their bathing suits off in one of the summer’s hottest videos.

New Music Alert: $toney – “BRB” ft. Mark Parker

0

Recently $toney released his new video for his well received song “BRB”.  The uniquely bouncy record has an appeal all its own as $toney steps out from behind the boards after being an engineer for nearly 10 years.  After debuting his “BRB” single on Elevator, the video has a chance to be his biggest video yet surpassing 25K this past weekend.

From the fan favorites like “2 Phones” and “Counterfeit,” from his project Blood on My Heart to this new loose track “BRB,” $toney is proving his worth on the Pittsburgh rap scene and nationwide despite his humble beginnings.

“I really dig this record and it has a unique sound. In this industry you have to bring some type of uniqueness to the game and it still has that popular modern bounce to it, so I think it’s going to do really well with the fans,” $toney said.  “I think it’s just that good ride and smoke music. You can party to it, you can ride to it and it’s just good music that can get people hyped even though its chill.”

The track is the follow up to his project Blood On My Heart which was released in February, produced entirely by McCoy and was dedicated to Jimmy Wopo who $toney worked with frequently.

After the loss of Jimmy Wopo, his close friend, frequent collaborator and recently signed Taylor Gang artist the Pittsburgh Hip-Hop community was in shock. $toney took the loss just as tough as anyone having spent many late nights in the studio with Wopo recording, engineering and perfecting their craft as he describes in a IG tribute to his friend.

“It was a dedication to Jimmy Wopo,”  $toney said of his album title Blood On My Heart, “I produced and engineered all the music that he was putting out and. Im just glad he made the impact that he did and that people are still listening to him.”

Having started his musical career while bored in class at the age of 15 , he began recording the raps on his phone and posting them online and he’s continued to grow and develop his craft recording and engineering at higher quality studios.  With a smoked out vibe and a riding quality that all great albums posses, $toney makes it clear that his mood music goes well beyond the speakers whether in the car or at home.
