Versace x H&M mens suit

The recent collabo between Donatella Versace & mega-retailer H&M has the fashion world in a frenzy. As for me, I’m absolutely tickled at the mens all pink everything suit pictured above. And while I’m not yet brave enough to brace the world in a highlighter bright hue, there are some elements of the ensemble that can be disected. Take a look at a few other male celebs who have embraced the prettier side of color and also a few items that’ll have your pink swag poppin!

Mixtape Review: Freddie Gibbs – Cold Day In Hell

0

Lyrics B+ Beats B+ Flow A- Orginality B- Grade B+

If you are not hip to Freddie Gibbs, you should be ashamed. In hip hop these days, a conscious & believable gangster rapper is a rare commodity.  The Gary, Indiana rapper is not new to the game. A 2010 XXL Freshman phenom,  Gibb’s lacked buzzworthy exposure but his music has gained the respect of labels and artist world wide.  As of lately he got the attention of  CTE CEO Young Jeezy. Jeezy threw Gibbs a bone by signing him with the CTE camp earlier this year. Since combining forces with Jeezy, Gibbs has been featured on all of the snowman’s 2011 material. Gibbs has a niche of ripping beats apart with his Midwestern stamped flow. His latest work “Cold Day In Hell” , is arguably the best gangster output in 2011.  Simply due  to the combination of raw lyrics and a grade A flow, with big name production.

The introduction to the mixtape “Barley M.A.D.E.” ( produced by The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League) paints a Godfather like story of a day in Gibbs life. The flutes & Gibbs’ signature flow mixed with vocals by B.J. The Chicago Kid puts Gibb’s style  above majority of his competition. The following track produced by Big K.R.I.T. is gangster music at it’s finest. “Rob me a N*****” is what fans want lyrically and sonically due to K.R.I.T.’s shoulder bouncing chords and violin. Alley Boy  shows why robbery is his specialty bringing in  the rear  while Gibbs speaks of a robbery so graphic when the song ends you will check your pockets. On “187 Proof”  he says “I speak a foregin language, I think yall call that the truth”  then he  highlights his flow ability in a comical way with “Flow stupid like I rode the bus to school with Waka Flocka”. Gary, we have a problem.

The middle of the tape has features from Freeway, Jeezy, and Scrlla  all of which are worthy of multiple listens. Then comes  “Let em Burn” produced by Olympics,  sampling Usher’s hit of the same name.  Gibbs shows his creativity and versatility killing this beat as well as matching the concept which is rare from gangster rappers throughout a mixtape. The mandatory  2 Chainz feature is spectacular on “Neighborhood H**” where Gibbs matches Tity, bar for bar and flow for flow.  This beat has a winter time vibe proving this release was carefully planned. Hats off to Gibbs and the crew. With Jeezy’s TM 103 on the way,  fans expect to see more of Gibbs. Hopefully TM 103 drops before hell freezes over.

Mac Miller Makes Indie History with “Blue Side Park”

0

Pittsburg’s Mac Miller surprised everyone on planet earth by selling 100,000 his first week with the release of Blue Side Park. the Rostrum Records rapper is predicted to be  number one on Billboard and has the industry on buzzmode. The Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food was the first and last Indie release to accomplish this feat 15 years ago. Comparing the two is not a good idea, so for now we’ll just give Mac his props. The 5’3  rhyme slayer is unlike his label mate Wiz Khalifa in a number of ways. For one, he’s white and expands beyond the topics of weed and women. Second, his initial following is somewhat of a cult. Mac has the social media game on lock with over 1,300,ooo followers.

Blue Slide Park is expected to hit  the 100,000 records mark and  Rostrum Records lead executive, Benjy Grinberg spoke with Billboard about how they learned from Wiz Khalifa’s situation putting Mac in a great place. “We’ve learned a lot about the ins and outs of the majors and how different things operate [through working with Khalifa],” Grinberg says. “We try to apply those lessons to everything we do . . . I’m not on some sort of revolutionary [anti-major] kick. I just know there are better ways of doing things.” Props to Mac and the Rostrum team. Hopefully Mac can join Wiz now that he’s on the rooftop.

Music Review: Pusha T- Fear of God II: Let Us Pray

0

Beats B- Lyrics B+ Flow B- Originality B- Overall B-

Pusha-T caught a break in 2010 by getting signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D music. Since then he has released the first installment of the Fear of God series which was a lowkey jewel last year. The Virginia native’s solo career has been somewhat stable but nothing in comparison to the days when he was a part of the cocaine duo, The Clipse, with brother Malice.  Let Us Pray is a re-release EP of his mixtape from last year. Pusha’s lyrical reputation is not questionable. His wordplay and metaphors are among the best in hip hop, hence the title claiming his competition should fear him. He gained a buzz over the summer with “Trouble On My Mind” with Tyler The Creator, a video that has almost 4 million views to date. Though this is the most popular track of the EP it is certainly not the best stand out.

[kkytv id=”2GKL_ZoJQjc”]

The EP begins with “Changing of The Guards” featuring Diddy’s  hypeman skills. The production from Rico Beats paints a picture of a King entering his arena. Surly this is the  sound Pusha was looking for.  Moving along “Amen” features boss man Kanye and respectively Jeezy who released the original version of the song over a year ago.  On this version, Kanye and Pusha do not disappoint by complimenting Jeezy perfectly bar for bar over Shawty Redd’s  unusual  production. Once the listener arrives at “Everything That Glitters” the evidence that Pusha is not playing games is revealed. His usual dope boy ideology is displayed from the get-go “For every Brick broke down, there’s one stepped on/ For every known rat, its one slept on”.  French Montana rides the hook perfectly adding to the grown vibe on the EP  that was needed from the G.O.O.D. music camp.  “Raid”  featuring 50 cent and Pharrell shows why all three artist are vets. Pusha brings the anti-fed agent flow and rhymes fans expected while 50 comes down from the forbes list and blesses Pharrells funky production.  “My God” is a well known banger followed by the mafia provocative “Alone in Vegas” both rounding up a preview into what the future holds for G.O.O.D music’s veteran.

Texas Sure Knows How to Pick’em!! Governor Rick Perry’s “Oops”

0
Governor Rick Perry has brain freeze during National Debate.

The Republican Presidential debate took place at Oakland University in Michigan wednesday night.  The debate was centered almost exclusively on how to fix the Nation’s economic problems.  Questions ranged from the recent Dow Jones drop that’s affecting 401k plans to whether or not the US should be obligated to help Italy in recent economic plummets.  In attendance were all the Republican nominees:  Congressman Ron Paul, Businessman Herman Cain (first appearance after sexual harassment accusations), Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Speaker Newt Gingrich , Gov. Mitt Romney,  Gov. Jon Huntsman and the most controversial nominee of the night, Gov. Rick Perry.

Apparently, Mr. Perry had a major brain freeze last night while responding to the question about how he would work with the Democrats across the aisle.  When asked the question Rick Perry responded,

“I will tell you: It’s three agencies of government, when I get there, that are gone: Commerce, Education and the –what’s the third one there? Let’s see. … OK. So Commerce, Education and the– … The third agency of government I would — I would do away with the Education, the … Commerce and — let’s see — I can’t. The third one, I can’t. Sorry. Oops.”

“Oops” was Gov. Rick Perry’s final statement after a minute of trying to recall the third government agency he would get rid of.  Ironically, the question had nothing to do with which programs he deemed wasteful, but the question in hand requested his ideas for bi-partisan relations with Democrats.  This type of situation could raise eyebrows toward Rick Perry’s role as Governor and presidential nominee.

If Perry drops the ball during a national debate, imagine what he would do in a diplomatic meeting with a foreign head of state.  Coincidentally, previous President George W. Bush, who was a known blooper during national televised speeches, was also former Governor of Texas.  No pun intended, but Bush was not the best Presidential orator ever to grace the screens of national T.V.  With that said, Rick Perry’s political run may not be over.

The next Republican Debate will take place November 12, 2011 in South Carolina.

Yelawolf and Em do the usual, fast rhymes and brain scrambling flows over WillPower’s production.  Radioactive is set to drop on November 21, most are egar to find out what Gadsden, Alabama’s son has been cooking up in the lab.

Mixtape Review: ASAP Rocky – LiveLoveASAP

0

Beats A- Lyrics B- Flow B+ Orginality A- Overall B+

Harlem. The city  rings bells not only in black culture but it’s also is a known talent hub for hip hop. These days Harlem’s rap scene is in somewhat of a disarray.  Dipset is low key with the exception of Jim Jones and New York’s regulars ( Jay-Z , Fabolous, Nas, Busta,) are present as expected. The newcomers from the big apple come and go. In ASAP Rocky’s case, he’s here to stay. The 23-year old Harlem resident set the internet on fire a few months back with his “Purple Swag” video which featured a hypnotizing hook and a white girl with a grill mouthing the N-word.  After this video was released the hip hop world was ready to dig a little more into ASAP Rocky’s catalog. The first question that arose was where did  the name ASAP came from? Similar to Odd Future (whom ASAP was once in a beef with), ASAP is a group which Rocky is a member of.  With a buzz under his belt, Rocky got signed to RCA for a 3-million dollar deal then gained an invite from Drake to open for his upcoming club Paradise Tour. To say the least Rocky has been on somewhat of a roll.

[kkytv id=”KuZ2QZKYj7c”]

The only thing ASAP was missing was a collection of steady music in rotation. On November 3rd, he released “LiveLoveASAP”, the first installment of the ASAP campaign. For starters, his style is refreshing and original which plays to his advantage on every track. The second video released “Peso” is a catchy rhythm that is not to be mistaken for a joke.  The opening line on this track  sets Rocky’s rep for years to come as his trademark. “I be that pretty M*** F***!!!” His confidence and delivery are complimenting traits giving him that “IT” factor. The production throughout the mixtape is not a duplicate of anything released this year.  Despite the fact he is from New York, the Houston influence is evident in every song production wise and lyrically especially in songs like “Wassup”.  The echoing claps and background vocals on this beat are soothing along with the chorus. His lyrical content weaves between creative topics like self motivation, social reality, and common ones like  sex, drugs, and money. “Trilla”  seperates the ASAP gang from other up and coming cliques in the game today, highlighting his knowledge for other regions of the game like the midwest. He borrows a Bone-Thug like flow off and on over a rocking chair type southern beat.

[kkytv id=”ob3ktDxAjWI”]

Tracks like “Leaf” are examples of why some may label ASAP’s music as weird. When he was asked what type of music they make, Rocky replied “Trill Wave”. It can’t be denied.  Rocky’s style, music and charisma will place him among the top of the new artist list  for 2012. LiveLoveASAP is already a trending topic as well as a critically acclaimed piece. With a record deal and one of the biggest tours on the planet on his agenda, hip hop can’t help but live ASAP and love Rocky.

[Copy & Pasted].. Impersonator Hits Up Celebs Pretending to be Cassie

0

Cassie the “Me & You” video sensation wants to warn bloggers, fans and the world that she has been impersonated. According to her tweets, various entertainers and athletes have been targeted via a fake Cassie email or texting saying, “she wants to holla”. Here is her warning:

Just in case you need it all in one piece…. Hello. Is thing on?! Testing 1,2…
Blog’s, gossip columns, etc… here is a bit of information for you:

I have been being impersonated for who knows how long, as well as some of my friends and it must stop.

Entertainers and athletes are being targeted and made victim by this individual (s).
These men are buying plane tickets, having BBM conversations, phone conversations and basically a virtual relationship with this individual(s). It only lasts so long as obviously there is no “in person” contact in the end.

I feel very bad and embarrassed for these guys that have fallen victim to something so felonious and fictitious. It begins, when “someone” says “Cassie or Lauren London” is “trying to holla”. They use conveniently named email addresses and bicoastal area codes, to make it seem “real”. Note: This will NEVER in life be the case. Its not either one of our styles…….. AT ALL, EVER!

As such, If you have a feeling something is off and not right about this so called “Cassie or Lauren London” that you are “dating” OR that you think a friend of yours is dating….. YOU are very much a victim.

Lastly, to the individual (s) doing this; live YOUR life!!! You are wasting a precious life of your own.

Please RT this to the world. Thank you for your time. God bless.

New Music: R. Kelly Tells His Haters to Shut Up!!

0

R. Kelly’s back and he has a message for anybody standing in his way: Shut up. R. Kelly addresses all the haters and naysayers on his song titled “Shut Up” which he released early this morning. Kellz tweeted: “It’s been a long time coming but I finally feel a lot better about my throat since the surgery and this is the first song I wrote.”

Kellz belts out “This song goes out…. to all the people out there that be running their mouth…and they don’t know what…the hell they saying…Shut up!”. But he doesn’t focus on the negative only, he thanks supporters and doctors who performed his emergency throat surgery as well. Of course, no R. Kelly song would be a true pied piper track without a little arrogance. One of Kelly’s last lines is “Every boy, every girl, and every child around the world from the ’90s up until the day was made off me,”

What do you think of the song? Yay or Nay?? Tweet us or leave a comment!
