New Music Alert: Camden Premo – ‘Private Smoke’

0

After being provided with as much ‘weed’ as he could possibly smoke over the course of a week, New Jersey bred and LA based rapper Camden Premo returns with his new project Private Smoke.

The 5-track EP is pure fire as Camden Premo rips through each song like a bat out of hell, repping his Hooligan movement and filling up bar after bar with pure gas. There’s only one song with guest features on this album as Premo also grabbed a special appearance from Block 125 and What it Do for the song, “Pour Me Up.”

“The album is a definitely a weed related project. The whole time I recorded it I was high with the weed being provided by LA’s Private Smoke Club, shit I’m high as fuck right’ now.” Camden Premo said laughing. “They basically hit me off with a whole party pack full of gas and I recorded the whole project in one week in their private studio, so it’s dedicated to them – shout out to LA’s Private Smoke Club.”

When asked what will be the main singles on this CRU Love Records release, Camden Premo explained that he made this project with the intentions of turning every song into a music video.

“I just pretty much formatted the project to have all the songs be singles because it’s just 5 songs and they are pretty much all ready for the visual treatment. At the end of the day I’m going to let all my Hooligans decide,” Premo said.

Recently Camden Premo’s Hooligan brand exploded with a line of custom made denim jackets that Premo has designed himself, sewed, shipped and packaged on his own exclusively for his Hooligan fan club.

Previously Camden Premo received posts on TheSource, AllHipHop, HipHopSince1987, ItsBizkit, DirtyGloveBastard and other influential sites for his Memoirs of a Hooligan project that has since earned more than 1 million plays.

New Video Alert: Nevelle Viracocha – “Multiply”

0

EMPIRE’s Nevelle Viracocha (veer-ah-cho-a) unveils his cinematic new video “Multiply,” in a premiere with okayplayer. The Alabama rapper turned singer/producer is reborn, re-inventing his sound on the first release his forthcoming album ASTRAL HOUR. Produced by 7iLENT, “Multiply” is a genre-bending blend of Rap, Soul and Blues. A sonic departure from his 2016 effort Eff/Pee/Ohh (For Promo Only), “Multiply,” is a microcosm of Nevelle’s shift in creativity and musical journey. Instead of abandoning Rap altogether in favor of melody, Velle incorporates it, displaying Andre 3000-like crooning while displaying Young Thug-like frenzied energy.

“I made ‘Multiply’ for all the people who knows what it feels like to be the underdog” says Viracocha. “I’m speaking to those who didn’t start out in first place but refuse to finish last. A reminder that you have to face your reality before you can change it.” The video sweeps across indelible images displaying three distinctly different vantage points throughout, placing Nevelle in a tuxedo in an empty theater, on a Grand Piano outdoors, and a jail cell. The Spencer Sease-directed video skillfully weaves Viracocha’s ‘split’ personalities with a bit of social commentary, contrasting freedom of creativity versus freedom from persecution.

New Music Alert: Southwest Mook – “First Day In”

0

Familiar piano keys run behind Southwe$t Mook’s distinct Detroit accent on her new single “First Day In.” The anthem plinks are drawn from the beat for Meek Mill’s “Dreams & Nightmares,” and as the song unfolds it becomes clear that Mook’s story is intertwined with the piercing spirit of the instrumental. For the last five months, Mill had been battling the criminal justice system, while Mook is embarking on a journey of her own. Merging the underdog spirit of Meek’s now infamous intro with the raspy authenticity of Tee Grizzley’s “First Day Out,” Southwe$t Mook picks up the baton where they’ve left off. In just under three minutes, Mook tells her story, detailing an unimaginable life of crime, a near-death experience, and her own bouts with incarceration.

In the video for “First Day In,” Mook flaunts an ankle monitor, which seems less like a restriction and more of a statement. Dressed in all black and draped in a fur, the song feels like a memorial service to her old life. Here, she’s addressing her demons and owning them, leaving no room for anyone to use her past against her. “Bullet through my chest, think my heart finna stop / Then my body it dropped / I hopped up like, ‘Nigga I’m shot,’” she raps as details the moments just before she was handcuffed to a hospital bed.

“First Day In” is an account of events that is a story only Southwe$t Mook can tell. It’s the story that’s led to her current incarceration, a three-year sentence at Huron Valley’s Women Prison, which chillingly started yesterday, the day before news broke that Meek would be released on bail.

Circulating the LA rap scene for the past few years rapper Sean Auguste has been in moving circles with your favorite rapper’s rapper for years. But his ambition and drive is what should really be of note.

While Sean Auguste has been acknowledged by a host of rappers that are on their way up, Sean’s musical background has its roots in gospel after Sean played a crucial role in his church on the drums and directing the choir.

“This project is the second installment in my journal entries. The two tools that I have are my MacBook and my Beats by Dre headphones – hence the Mac Dre title.” Sean Auguste said. “So shout out to Mac Dre from the Bay, he’s a legend and it’s an honor for the project to work out like this.”

Combining drums, keyboards, rapping and singing Sean Auguste has the ability to reach wide audiences and does so on his ‘Mac Dre II’ Mixtape, which includes coves of Cardi B’s “Be Careful” and Drake’s ‘God’s Plan” and a host of other cuts.

Free At Last: Meek Mill Scheduled to Be Released Within The Hour

0

Not even the wrath of a vindictive judge, rapper Meek Mill will finally be released from a Pennsylvania State prison because The Supreme Court of PA decided that the judge in the case, Genece Brinkley erred by not granting the rapper bail. In addition, it is likely his entire conviction will be overturned. He is scheduled for a hearing in 60 days which is good for the hip hop community and people at large who have been wrongfully convicted of a crime.

Earlier today, comedian Kevin Hart visited the rapper in jail as well.

Meek spoke with TMZ via phone:

“I’d like to thank God, my family, my friends, my attorneys, my team at Roc Nation including JAY-Z, Desiree Perez, my good friend Michael Rubin, my fans, The Pennsylvania Supreme Court and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time.”

“While the past five months have been a nightmare, the prayers, visits, calls, letters and rallies have helped me stay positive.”

Meek adds, “To the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, I’m grateful for your commitment to justice – not only for my case, but for others that have been wrongfully jailed due to police misconduct. Although I’m blessed to have the resources to fight this unjust situation, I understand that many people of color across the country don’t have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues. In the meantime, I plan to work closely with my legal team to overturn this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music career.”

Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, says, “Meek was unjustly convicted and should not have spent a single day in jail. Meek is excited to be reunited with his family, and we, along with Meek, intend to continue to shine the light on a justice system in need of reform to prevent any other citizen from being put through what Meek has endured.”
