Erick Sermon, Tom Silverman and Rockwilder Join Together for A Music Sampling ‘Ted Talk’ And Explain Why They Believe Tracklib Will Change the Way Producers Create Music

0

Excitement was in the air at the exclusive Tracklib studio session recently held at Erick Sermon’s Def Squad studios in Ronkonkama, Long Island about two hours outside of NYC. Legendary music executive and founder of Tommy Boy Records, Tom Silverman, joined Erick Sermon and super producer Rockwilder to introduce Tracklib, a game changing new online service that makes it easy and affordable for artists and producers to clear samples legally.

“Tracklib has so many dope songs that you never heard before. Even though theres about fifty-thousand songs on there now, I’ve been doing this for thirty-years, the first twenty samples on there I never heard before,” said Erick Sermon who spoke to a room full of journalists who were able to get early access to the platform that will be available for everyone later this year.

“Some people would say the fifth pillar of Hip hop is sampling because where would Hip hop be without sampling,” said Tom Silverman. “I don’t know if there would be Hip hop without sampling.”

“As well as sampling on Tracklib, I definitely want to be one of the people who contribute to Tracklib as far as having my own original content.” said Rockwilder.

Tracklib has also garnered the support of legendary Hip-Hop producers, Statik Selektah, Prince Paul, Mr. Green, Hank Shocklee and QuestLove, who have gained early access to the platform.

“Now you’re able to afford the sample at a really cool price, get it cleared right in front of you and then its yours,” said Erick Sermon.

Musicians and producers can log onto the site to request access at www.Tracklib.com  For more information, please visit us https://www.facebook.com/tracklib and https://twitter.com/tracklib

Actor Terry Crews Denied Justice in His Sexual Assault Claim Due to Technicality

Terry Crews Denied Justice for Being a victim of sexual assault

The 2017 Hollywood sex scandal assault allegations put several of Hollywood’s entertainment power players in hot water. While allowing the alleged victims of sexual assault to finally be able to speak out and demand the justice they deserve. Unfortunately for Actor Terry Crews, justice was denied after the Los Angeles County District Attorney and the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office rejected Terry Crews‘ sexual assault case against William Morris Endeavor agent Adam Venit.

According to TMZ a representative for the Los Angeles City Attorney said the following:

“The matter was rejected because it was beyond the statute of limitations.”

Representatives for Crews, Venit, and William Morris Endeavor did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The 49-year old Crews, filed a police report as a crime victim last November, one month after he went public with claims that “a high-level Hollywood executive” grabbed his genitals at an entertainment function in February 2016. He later appeared on “Good Morning America” and named his alleged abuser as Venit.

“I have never felt more emasculated, more objectified. I was horrified,” Crews said. “It’s so bizarre. I wake up every morning wondering, ‘Did this really happen?”

“People need to be held accountable,” he continued. “This is the deal about Hollywood. It is an abuse of power. This guy, again, he’s one of the most powerful men in Hollywood, and he looked at me at the end as if, ‘Who is going to believe you?'”

Venit did not comment on the allegation, and, at the time, WME released a statement indicating that the agent “was suspended after the internal investigation into the matter.” Venit is still employed by WME.

In December, Crews filed a lawsuit against Venit, alleging assault, sexual battery, emotional distress, and negligence, among other claims.

“It is now time to hold Venit accountable for his sexual predatory behavior and to hold WME accountable for its conduct in condoning, ratifying, and encouraging Venit’s sexual predatory behavior,” the lawsuit reads. “Indeed, a message needs to be sent to those in power who abuse those over whom they exert influence and control that abusive and sexual predatory behavior will not be tolerated.”

Things are not over for Crews though, he still has a civil suit out against Venit. Although the felony charges against Venit where rejected, Crew’s hopes things will work out in his favor.

Will this deter other men to step forward in hopes of seeking justice in similar sexual allegation claims? How will this impact Crews seeking professional acting jobs in Hollywood?

New Music Alert: N.O. (Nlightened. One) – “Clocked In” (Prod by Tone the Beat Bully)

0
Coming from the First state to become part of the USA, Wilmington rapper N.O. (Nlightened. One.) hails from one of the last places you would expect to find a dope emcee – Delaware.  With a raw and gritty East Coast sound that’s garnering attention from the shores of Delaware to streets of Philly, this talented young rapper has an undeniable sound that makes his origins that much more enigmatic.
Part of his rise to notoriety in the Tri-State area came with his appearance on DJ Cosmic Kev’s Power 99 FM “The Come Up Show” and via J-Squad’s debut mixtape Welcome 2 Hellaware hosted by the Aphiliates.
“The Delaware Hip-Hop scene has a lot of hard workers, and people are starting to gravitate to certain artists. I think we do lack some unity and genuine support, just as far as artists working together and networking, but I mostly just stay in my own lane and started to get my buzz up in Philly,” N.O. explained.
Kicking things off on the blogs to build awareness outside of his home state and the Tri-State area, N.O. is releasing his new single featuring the production of Tone the Beat Bully, brother of Roc Nation Producer Jahlil Beats.
“On the current project Times Have Changed we got this record called Clocked In and thats what we’re going to push next. It’s produced by Tone the Beat Bully and my cousin/manager Zo linked with him after Zo had known him for a long time way before Jahlil blew up,” he said. “Jahlil is a real humble dude and he’s always had some heat back in the day.  We went to his old house in Chester and he was giving us a lot of jewels and knowledge about how the game goes. He taught us a lot about the game and how to get your self on.”
In addition to the aforementioned Jahlil Beats and Tone the Beat Bully, the project also features producers and rapper Sap, Marchitect, PC Beats, MD Kye and Prince Ali. There are also features on the project from J-Squad’s Dré and GK, as well as other names including Pittsburgh’s Owey, Renee Scott, Sap and BL.
“Not a lot of people have a project with top tier producers and legendary features and quality recording so I kind of want to shine light on the fact that I do feel I have that kind of project,” N.O. said speaking on the caliber of his recent body of work.  I never slow down on music, still writing and visuals are coming and I”m doing some more shows and get  back into that.”

Stevie J Faces Federal Jail Time for Owing $1.3 Million in Child Support

0

LHHATL Star Faces Time in Jail

It looks like Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Stevie J will be facing time in prison for non-payment of child support. According to TMZ, Stevie will have to turn himself into authorities on April 10. The LHHATL star is facing federal time for owing more than $1.3 MILLION in back child support.

Most child support cases are usually handled in state court. But in Stevie’s case the amount he owes, the length of time he was in arrears, and the people involved are in different states all make it a federal case.

Back in February of last year, TMZ broke the story that  Stevie pled guilty for failure to pay child support. He accepted full responsibility and had been ordered to fork over $1,304,835.86. He was also placed on probation for 3 years.

Federal prosecutors have pushed for Stevie to do jail time since 2017 and it looks like they are finally getting their wish.

Does locking Stevie Jordan inside of jail serve his children’s best interest? What were the circumstances surrounding him getting in these arrears? Jordan is an accomplished music producer as well as television reality star so why haven’t the people who have could aid in his defense not stepped and loaned him the money? If he hasn’t paid it’s obvious he doesn’t have it. If a gofundme is ever needed for a celebrity, this is the time.

Chi-town Brethren Ro$$ Mac and The Boy Illinois got their cat-calling skills on fleek for Ro$$’s new single, “Ayo.” Produced by Grammy-nominated Soundz, and Kwame Ozbourne and premiered by the good folks at Fakeshore Drive, the song came about after Illi attended one of Ro$$’s infamous DRILL parties and the two stayed connected. A chance encounter at Lupe’s 1st & 15th Studio provided an opportunity to collab and “Ayo” was born. Both artists had the opportunity to test the song live in their home town this past Wednesday at another of Ro$$’s DRILL events at Bassline and the response was overwhelmingly positive. SXSW attendees will get to see that go down themselves at rooftop lounge extraordinaire, Austin Summit, on Thursday, March 15th, during Ro$$’s DRILLBySW showcase. More to come on that later. Birdman Defends Nicki Minaj’s Relevancy in Hip Hop in Exclusive Interview

Birdman recently met with Rap Up to promote his apple Documentary Before Anything: The Cash Money Story. During this interview with Rap-Up, Cash Money mogul Birdman made a few statements about YMCMB’s Nicki Minaj. Birdman referred to the Spaceship artist as the best female hip-hop artist ever.

“I always say she’s the best ever, best female ever in hip-hop, hands down, facts. There’s no getting around it,” he declared. “There’s levels to this s**t. Very many levels to this s**t. She’s an elite.”

Sometimes, you can put Nicki in a room with males on a rap, but if you put her on females, it’s nothing,” he explained. “She’s a monster in her own race.”

I’m blessed to have her a part of my team. She’s a special talent I’ve never heard before,” he said.

We’re familiar with the female artists that came for Minaj’s thrown. Nicki Minaj had to go against former Queens and wanna be queens. The first and biggest beef the “Itty Bitty Piggy” star had been with  Lil Kim.

This is when we really saw the Queen’s creativity. She came out with hit singles “Romans Revenge” and Did It On Em” that featured on her album Pink Friday. Lil Kim fought back with her mixtape Black Friday. The two artist never really made up, they just learned how to make money and coexist in the same industry.

Minaj next rivalry was with Remy Ma:  It started with little jabs between each artist on features like on Fat Joe money showers and Gucci Mane “Make Love.”

Then diss tracks Remy’s Shetter & Minaj’s’ No Frauds was birthed. Last but not least reality star Cardi B was supposedly next in line.

Minaj dead all that negative energy by doing a song with the “Bodak Yellow” artist and the Migos. There hasn’t been any real beef between the two Motorsport artists just speculations and comparisons of their respective style of lyrical delivery.

In Birdman’s man interview with Rap-Up, he also touched on Minaj’s social media absence, stating that she is excited, focused & working her hardest on her new projects. Watch the full interview below.

New Video Alert: Big Zo – “Social Media Circus”

0

Born in Virginia but residing primarily in Lexington, KY for most of his life, rapper Big Zo has been slowly changing the face of Hip-Hop in Lexington for years. Now he’s back with a big new single, “Social Media Circus” as he delivers a visual that looks to highlight some of the stereotypes on social media in a unique way, offering his critique on the era of social media that we live in today.

In the Lance Meaux directed visual, Big Zo schools a group of young students, as the rapper proves he’s not scared to do what it takes to deliver his art and stand out from the crowd, literally dressing like a clown. For the visual Lance Meaux shot scenes in 5K with multiple Red Cameras using white and green screen work to draw from visuals filmed at a local school.

“The first single is called Social Media Circus,” Big Zo said. “It highlights stereotypes on social media and in a unique way challenges people to stop clowning around on the internet and spend time making real change in their lives.”

For the song Big Zo was able to link up with St Louis producer Demolish who has landed placements with Tech N9ne and E-40 to name a few, adding more depth to this already intriguing piece of content.

While many people might not think of Lexington, KY as the epicenter of Hip-Hop music, Big Zo has played his role in developing the Hip-Hop scene in Kentucky after he’s operated one of the longest standing studios in town.

To date his studio has recorded artists like Cassidy, Young Buck, Freeway, Bando Jones, Nappy Roots, Crime Mob, Project Pat, Verse Simmons, Bambi and more,

“Lexington doesn’t just thrive off of one industry. The music scene is in it’s infancy phase and on the hip hop scene I am a pioneer. My studio, Fyre Entertainment LLC, is the longest standing and most successful Hip-Hop studio that this city has every seen,” Big Zo says with pride.

As the Spring and Summer approach, Big Zo has plans to tour after getting several paid gigs over the last few years at Lexi-Fest, The Black Gold Festival and the Lexington Music Awards show within Kentucky. 2018 will be a monumental year for Big Zo as he looks to expand beyond the borders of Kentucky touring and working with more artists who have similar goals.

Rapper T.I. Believes Racism is Not on Houston’s Menu Anymore, Calls for End to Boycott

0

Months ago financial guru Jay Morrison along with members of his staff experienced a case of racial profiling at a Atlanta Houston’s restaurant that prompted him to call for a boycott of the establishment. Rapper T.I. along with reality stars Debra Antney, Yandy Smith and Xscape3 member Tameka “Tiny” Harris had similar complaints about the treatment they had previously experienced but it all came to a head when thousands descended on the establishment with cries of “Shut it Down.”

It appears the restaurant has reached out to the Grand Hustle mogul with a promise that there will be no more discriminatory practices. TMZ is reporting the following:

Sources close to Tip tell us he’s had several meetings with execs of the Atlanta-area restaurant since October — when he first imposed the boycott … this after a number of African-Americans complained the chain was reluctant to seat them.

Waka Flocka‘s mom Deb Antney helped pushed the boycott back in October after someone claimed they went to the Houston’s in Atlanta with a large party of African-Americans and they were refused service as they watched a large party of Caucasians seated comfortably.

We’re told the restaurant assured T.I. there will be NO racial discrimination in seating customers. T.I. felt the dress code had the effect of discriminating against African-Americans, and the restaurant has assured him the code will be less strict.

Houston’s also agreed to bring more minorities into the restaurant’s business.

Do you stand behind rapper T.I. in his call to end the boycott?
