Amedy Coulibaly, the terrorist who was responsible for the death of a policewoman and taking four hostages at a kosher grocery store, appeared in a video talking about the terrorist events before they took place and his involvement with the Islamic State.
Coulibaly, 32, appeared in a video that was released on Sunday in front of the Islamic State’s symbol and showcasing multiple weapons. Coulibaly states in the video that he was responsible for killing policewoman, Clarissa Jean-Phillipe and working with Cherif and Said Kouachi to commit terrorist attacks. Coulibaly also called out for others to carry out similar attacks in the name of the Islamic State.
The Kouachi brothers were responsible for the attack on the Charlie Hebdo french magazine. The Kouachi brothers murdered several employees for satirical caricatures of the prophet Muhammad.
On the same day the video was released more than one million people gathered in Republique’s Square in Paris to speak out against the recent terrorist attacks and to mourn the loss of the 17 lives taken during the terrorist attacks.
Several world leaders joined French President Francois Hollande as they marched to show strength and unity during. During this time President Hollande feels that is important to show that the French people and others around the world will not give in to the fear of terrorism.
French investigators are still working to identify the connection between the three terrorist killed on Friday and if they have any connections to Al Qaeda or ISIS. As the investigations continue, security will remain a heightened priority.
