Breaking: Lindsay Clancy Holdout Juror Breaks Silence, Urges Public to Remember Three Children as Court Hearing Nears

Michael P. Desronvil, the lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial, has spoken on camera as the case heads back to a Massachusetts courtroom Tuesday. After weeks of scrutiny over the jury’s deadlock, his message was to turn attention to the children at the center of the case.

“I know the whole focus has been on me, but we want to reel everything back and put the focus on the three angels,” Desronvil said in a video statement aired on Fox News’ Hannity. He named Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy, saying they could no longer speak or defend themselves. The appearance followed earlier statements Desronvil made through his attorney; it was his first televised statement in his own voice.

Clancy’s trial ended in a mistrial on September 4 after the jury split 11–1. Eleven jurors were prepared to find her not criminally responsible for the deaths of her children, while Desronvil held out for a conviction. Clancy has not disputed that she killed the children in their Duxbury home in January 2023. Her defense argued that postpartum psychosis left her unable to understand her actions; prosecutors argued that she knew what she was doing and should be held criminally responsible.

The deadlock has since become a dispute over what happened inside the jury room. Some fellow jurors have accused Desronvil of failing to follow the law during deliberations. He disputes their account and has said through his attorney that he had no doubt about Clancy’s guilt. Those competing claims have not been resolved by the court.

Desronvil has also drawn substantial public support. A GiveSendGo fundraiser for him surpassed $350,000 last week; local reporting placed the total at approximately $400,000 on Monday. His attorney, Edward Paltzik, says Desronvil has faced threats since the mistrial.

Clancy is scheduled to appear before Judge William F. Sullivan in Plymouth County Superior Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, for a status conference. Her lawyers are seeking to have the charges dismissed and argue that another trial would violate her protection against double jeopardy because, in their view, the mistrial should not have been declared. Prosecutors may also clarify whether they intend to retry the case. A dismissal ruling is possible, but it is not certain that the judge will decide the motion Tuesday.

A separate defense request to investigate Desronvil’s conduct may be taken up later. Attorneys on both sides agreed to give the juror’s counsel more time to respond, subject to the judge’s approval.

For now, the question of a second trial remains open. Desronvil’s statement asks the public to remember Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months, even as the legal fight over the mistrial moves forward.
