New Music Alert: Billy Ray – “Home”

Today California rapper Billy Ray releases his debut single “Home” in what is Overnight Entertainment’s debuts release.

The song comes in the heels of Billy Ray’s recent release from prison just over a year ago after Billy was charged with armed robbery and a host of other charges.

“My single that out right now is called Home and it’s about me fighting my case, getting ready to go to prison and the bitterness I felt of not being home feeling alone and being targeted for a crime I don’t commit,”

Vowing to put the past behind him and acknowledging his wrongs, Billy Ray give those currently incarcerated and those who were previously locked up something to believe in while also being thankful to be home with his family and loved ones.

“When I was thirteen my brother would make music in his room all the time and it inspired and encouraged me to start writing myself,” Billy Ray said. “So while I was incarcerated it gave me something to turn to and helped me pass the time.”

While he was unable to record in prison, Billy Ray drew inspiration from a host of artists.

“I feel like my style is all over the place and I really don’t like to compare myself to others. But I draw inspiration from artist like Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Roddy Ricch, RJ, Jay Rock and many more.”

The new single is produced by Paula and will land on his upcoming EP, The Experiment dropping In May

“For the summer I have some shows lined up that I’m throwing in the Santa Barbara area. I also have a fund raiser I’m doing to bring my community a lot closer so we can help those in need,” he added.
