New Artist Alert: Remarcus “Vigilante” Steele Introduction

0

Meet upcoming Atlanta rapper, Remarcus Steele, otherwise known as “Vigilante”.

Remarcus was born in Flint, Michigan where he spent most of his days attending regular public school and then the usual extracurricular activities. This was all going fine and well until one day, his parents told him that they were moving the entire family to Georgia for better opportunity and a brighter outlook.

Shortly after moving to Marietta, Georgia in 2010, Remarcus was first introduced to the art of producing music when his mother bought his step father his very own recording studio. He had a cousin who also happened to be an aspiring artist at the time who went by the stage name of “Fat Kidd” and Steele was his first official producer. As time went on, creating fresh beats eventually lead to him making up his own inspiring rhymes to go along with them. His quick-witted and humble personality mixed with the catchy beats soon birthed the “Vigilante Vision” that he lives by today.

Before going by “Vigilante”, he first called himself YLD which stood for “Young, Lyrical, Dreads”.

He was just 15 when he moved to Georgia and continued with his schooling all the way up until enrolling in audio engineering college at the age of 19. After that, he has been continuously building his brand with radio tours, doing background acting work, and now doing strip club tours.

He made it his personal mission/goal to interview at all of Atlanta’s independent radio stations and so far he has checked off 22 out of the 30. Checkout his interview with Erin Rae from Hot 107.9 below:

During that same radio tour, he also got the chance to interview with Debra Antney’s son, Brandon Barnes on the Be100 radio station and even meet Debra as well.

Last week he officially signed over on to Universal records and has a distribution deal that is set to take his music to the next level. He is currently promoting his latest single, “That’s How We Do It” and hopes it will receive mainstream radio play in the near future.

Kim Viera is now setting the stage for her journey on Republic Records (who also released Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” ft. Daddy Yankee ) as a new American Latina star. Her first release “Gold Lining” samples the Diwali Riddim Lumidee used in her hit single “Uh Oh”.

Flipping a sample of Lumidee’s classic “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh),” the songstress delivers a soulful and show-stopping anthem that’s as empowering as it is engaging. “Gold Lining” marks her first release for Republic Records and paves the way for the arrival of more new music very soon.

Crash and Burn! Usher Raymond Hit with 10 Million Dollar Lawsuit ” You Exposed me to A Disease” (Court Documents)

0

A new woman has come forward with a $10 million lawsuit accusing R&B super star Usher Raymond of exposing her to an STD.

The woman alleges in her complaint that she had sex earlier this year with the singer and had no idea he was exposing her to Herpes … according to a new lawsuit she’s filed for millions of dollars.

TMZ reports that a new law suit was filed by a Jane Doe, according to documents  she and Usher hooked up in Atlanta on April 16 at her home. She says there was some heavy petting, some kissing, and she performed oral sex on him. They eventually had intercourse, and she says he wore a condom.
But they had sex again 12 days later — this time in a New Orleans hotel room — and they did not use a condom.

In this new suit, the woman does not say whether she’s infected however we can only speculate that she is being tested for this incurable disease.

According to the legal documents, “Jane Doe” is concerned that she was “exposed” and says she wouldn’t have had sex with Usher if he’d disclosed he has the Herpes virus.

She’s suing “U.R. IV” — Usher Raymond IV — for negligence, battery and emotional distress … and is seeking at least $10 million in damages.

Society Seems To Forget That Celebs Are Human Too, So Flawless Real Talk Made It Clear [VIDEO]

0

They Too Have Feelings. People Forget.

As sad as it may be, it’s normal for society to only see celebrities as public figures, nothing more. Meaning it’s common for people to forget that they’re humans too. Knowing this, Flawless Real Talk recently made a video that showcases him in the most vulnerable way possible.

“Won’t Back Out” is essentially a short documentary displaying Flawless in his rawest form. It’s a point of view that many forget even exist. It takes a lot of courage to put it all out on the table. Flawless Real Talk definitely hit the mark, and we can’t wait to see what dope visuals he releases next.

Mobsquad Nard & Bossie Badazz Run The Streets In “Itz Dat” Video

0

Mobsquad Nard just debuted the video to his first single courtesy of Hot New Hip Hop in preparation for the forthcoming release of his sophomore album, “Nardo DaVinci.” On “Itz Dat”, a common southern catchphrase down south used to punctuate a point, Nard is joined by Boosie Badazz and it is easy to see why the two were compared early in Nard’s career.

“Nardo DaVinci” is Nard’s follow-up to last years popular “Everything Clean But Da Ashtray” on which he was joined by BIG K.R.I.T., 21 Savage and G Herbo to name a few. The new project will have less marquis characters though, giving Nard and his Mobsquad posse more room to shine.

‘#Itz Dat,’ that’s something that we say here down south; that’s something we’re saying all through the city. Actually they say it out in Chicago too. It’s starting to take over in the streets. It’s all over, especially down here in Jacksonville. They’re stressing it all over, “Itz Dat.” It’s just a mission statement. That’s like confirmation. When they say “Itz Dat” down here, it’s either to let you know – an exclamation to let you know something good or to let you know somebody dispositioning something.”

Listen To Page Kennedy’s New Take On “The Story Of OJ”

0

Nobody will ever state that following an act like Jay-Z is easy, or even advisable, but Page Kennedy not only felt he was up to the task, he proved it. Commandeering “The Story of O.J.”, Page’s remix is part affirmation, part response to the icon’s new classic. Since maturity is the theme, in part, the Detroit native also showcases his own as he gives todays rap a pass and admits that there is room for everyone at the table.

As he himself puts it, “HOV put us up on some grown man shit on 4:44 so I just wanted to expand on what he did with this song and play devils advocate. There are two sides to every story and I wanted to share both sides as I see them. I also wanted to show my own personal maturity in opening myself up to different kinds of rap music that I normally dismiss cause it’s different from what I typically like.”

Judge for yourself but Mass Appeal premiered the track this morning and that certainly has to count for something. #StraightBars soon come!

Treacherous Records signee, NIQLE NUT, just unleashed 15 minutes of fire in the form of his new EP, “CiNQO.”Produced entirely by Keanu Beats, who put the wings under Migos’ “What The Price“, “CiNQO” is more evidence of what made Treacherous sign this talented street narrator to the label. With a nod to numerology, the EP’s title highlights the significance of the number 5 in NIQLE NUT’s life, from growing up on 115th Street in Inglewood, California, to being shot 5 times before deciding it was time to turn his life around and seriously pursue music. This is balls to the wall production over which NIQLE NUT’s flow is a snappy and refreshing as ever. Definitely one for the playlists. Listen below.

Cyhi The Prynce collaborator Truth Ali is back with two Summer-ready new singles from his forthcoming September 22 release, “The Wonder Years.” Taking his inspiration from Prince’s “Little Red Corvette” and it’s ‘one night stand’ story line, Ali put a more positive slant on that concept and came up with “Accidentally On Purpose.”

Also up is “Almost Paradise” – a remix that features Royce da 5’9″, Kxng Crooked and Iliana Eve that tackles the 1984 hit single of the same name from the “Footloose” soundtrack. The song is produced by King Graint and Jonathan Hay and is available on Spotify .

Ali, a Bakersfield, California native turned San Diego resident had this to say of his forthcoming project, which is based based around the popular 90’s TV show, “I want to connect with people so that they experience my emotions. And maybe, just maybe, make someone who has dealt with the same struggles as me, feel free for that moment.”

The Internet Blasts Brother Polight for His Alleged “Swirling” Ways

0

Many of us have grown to love the teachings of Brother Polight author of over 90+ books, dynamic lecturer, and savvy businessman. Many of us who consider ourselves a part of the “black conscious” community have gained a great deal of knowledge from celebrity mentor and public speaker Brother Polight.

But his latest Internet activity has left many thinking “what’s really going on with Brother Polight”?

Earlier this week, Brother Polight conducted two social experiments where he posted images of him with a photo of two different non-African-American women. Almost immediately he received backlash from mostly women of color for his controversial experiment.

The first post was a photo of him and playboy model @jillisaylnn with her wearing an African print mini dress. In the post Polight asked the public #CanBeckyWearAfricanAttire. He further asked “Is it wrong to get the white women in African Attire? Will the Black man get love for his influence or will you condemn him and call it treason to have “Becky” in African garb? Do we set the trends and limit other races or is it free for all on the African Market” He ended the post by saluting @Jillislynn for rocking the dress and helping push Afro-centric fashion.

The next day he posted another post of him with another Caucasian woman and the caption read, “Can I allow this woman to love me? She treats me so good and loves me because of my dark skin. She tells me how beautiful I am because of my African features. How Dare Her! Thanks #Christine.

He ends the post asking the public two questions:

Question 1: Should I curse out non-black women for treating me nice?

Question 2. If I show a non-black woman love, does it mean I hate the black woman?

Now we all know Brother Polight isn’t afraid to shake things up a bit when it comes to helping elevate the lives of others especially the lives of black people through his platform. And until Brother Polight can address fully his method behind this social experiment many are left to assume their own interpretation of the cryptic message he was sending out.

Many of his followers along with his faithful legion of social media trolls went in on him with thousands of comments displaying anger and disappointment in Polight’s message. Many people felt that Brother Polight was being hypocritical of his “The Black Woman is God” philosophy, by glorifying a white woman on his social media page, others viewed his activity as “selling out” to white people and a traitor to his community. This isn’t the first time Polight’s loyalty to the Black community has been in question. Polight rise to money, power, and popularity has helped him cross over into a mainstream audience that has left his beloved “black conscious” community feeling concerned.

3 days after posting the first #CanBeckyWearAfricanAttire post, Brother Polight posted a video sharing some history behind dashiki fashions. In this, he explains that the pattern is a Dutch inspired garment that was exposed to West African slaves. The style was brought back to West Africa where it has been mass produced all over the world as authentic African Attire.

This entire experiment resulted in a lot of unhappy responses, but it has also sparked some very serious dialogue among African Americans.
Is it wrong for Caucasians to wear African fashions especially when African Americans can profit from it? Or should Caucasians be condemned for wanting to wear African Fashions no matter who is profiting?

It should be no surprise to anyone that Caucasians throughout their existence have taken the customs of other cultures and have made them their own. And now with capitalism, it is easy to profit millions of dollars off of anything especially the African culture.

“It’s just good business” as they say, this is probably what Polight was trying to convey in his unorthodox approach, #CanBeckyWearAfricanAttire?
Do you believe this social experiment was more damaging to his platform than it was helpful?
