New Video Alert: Looney Babie ft King Von – “Drill”

0

Proving that Milwaukee, Wisconsin is way more than beer, cheese and the Green Bay Packers, versatile rapper Looney Babie delivers his new single “Drill” featuring recently slain Chicago rapper and OTF member King Von

While the preparation for his “Drill” single featuring King Von has been months in the making with music videos and more, nothing could have prepared Looney Babie for the untimely murder of King Von last week. In honor of his slain OTF friend and fellow Midwest rapper, Looney Babie decided to push forward with the release of “Drill” to give King Von fans something positive during these trying times.

“Von was a smooth dude both times I met him. We both street ni**as, we both beat homicide cases so this Drill song was perfect for us. It’s f*cked up how things went and I send my condolences to his family and friends, but I hope this song brings some light to his family and fans. King Von went crazy on that one!” Looney Babie said.

“I ain’t gonna lie this is one of my best mixtapes and its hosted by Drumma Boy who did all the sh*t with T.I., Jeezy and everyone else. I got beats from him on there, we got a couple of hits. I’m trying to get Rod Wave and Chief Keef on there but I got Peezy from Detroit part of Team Eastside, TEC from Baton Rouge, King Von. In my city it’s hard to make it out of here and it’s all about who you know and what your budget is. Rico Love, K-Camp are from here but most people don’t know that.”

While people are familiar with all of the violence and crime in Chicago, Looney Babie is telling stories that show that Milwaukee is far from the sleepy Midwest town that people imagine it to be.

“Chicago is like 4 times bigger than Milwaukee, but our city is just the same, it’s just little. We’re just two hours apart so it’s a mini-Chicago. When niggas get ran out of Chicago they come up there. If they don’t know nobody over here they think it’s a white lil hick town, but they soon realize, this ain’t that,” Looney Babie said. “When I used to go to other cities, they would say there ain’t no Black people up here but it’s def not what people think.”

Escaping incarceration after beating a homicide charge in 2012, Looney Babie earned his name after gaining a reputation in jail for fighting and going crazy after finding out his mother died just 12 days before his birthday. He soon became known in his town for beating a murder charge and going “looney” while in county jail for two years.

“I was just in there going crazy, a lot of fighting and stuff like that. One day I called home and told them they had named me that in jail and so it stuck and it was my name from then on,” Looney Babie said. “Right now I don’t like this shit though, from the police to the streets. I’m most definitely living all this, I spent two years in the county jail, but that shit gave me high blood pressure and I almost died in there.  I spit my life on these tracks, I got a lot of shit coming, I recorded over 1000 songs so I’m just mixing them in and picking the best songs. You gonna see my growth in my music with everything that’s coming out, it’s all about me and my life or what I’ve seen my niggas go through. I’m just gonna spit my life and you either gonna like it or not.”

Sad News: First Black New York City Mayor David Dinkins, Has Died at 93

0
David Dinkins, First Black Mayor of New York, dead at 93

It is with regret that have to report the passing of New York City’s first black David Dinkins at the age of 93. His death comes one month later after the passing of his wife Joyce Dinkins. Mr. Dinkins was a product of Harlem and one of the most outspoken leaders who fought for the rights of people of color as a former attorney and someone who went on to defeat then mayor Ed Koch and Rudy Giuliani.

Mr. Dinkins was an avid tennis player and enjoyed attending matches at the annual U.S. Opens matches in Flushing, NY.

His devotion to tennis never waned, even as the mayor marked his 80th birthday. He was a constant presence at the U.S. Open; just before leaving City Hall, he signed a 99-year lease to keep the event in Queens.

The deal also arranged for the construction of the Arthur Ashe Stadium, honoring the late African-American tennis star and role model.

During Mr. Dinkins tenure as mayor, he was faced with some challenging times when it had to deal with race relations. In 1991, 7-year-old Gavin Cato was fatally struck by a car driven by a Hasidic jew in Crown Heights, Brooklyn which set off riots for days. A day later the driver himself was fatally stabbed.

After leaving public life, Mr. Dinkins re-emerged in 1999 after the death of Bronx immigrant Amadu Diallo, who was recklessly gunned down by NYPD anti-crime cops who claimed they thought Mr. Diallo’s wallet was a gun.

Mr. Dinkins is survived by a son and daughter.

Our deepest condolences goes out to all his friends and family.

0

Today Houston bred artist Cam Wallace delivers new music for the fans with a brand new release titled, “Retail.” Produced by Swoope, a frequent collaborator of Cam’s, the track is dedicated to every female and is a soundtrack for the women out there looking for some music while they are getting dressed.

Recently added to Spotify’s XOXO Playlistwith over 1.8 million followers and inspired by one of his favorite pastimes, Cam Wallace runs over the track as raps about all the fly women and fashion that inspired “Retail.” Cam’s hope is that women feel fly inside and out when this record comes on.

“Honestly I’m always shopping, it’s literally one of my favorite past times. I really dig fashion and style overall,” Cam Wallace said.  “I love a woman with style and grace as Biggie would say, so when I heard the beat it really just felt like dressing room music or something you would hear in one your favorite clothing stores. It felt like something you get dressed too, I just kinda ran with that vibe and put it into words.”

After work with Beyonce, Chris Brown, Sevyn Streeter, Ciara, Omarion, Chaz French and a few others Cam Wallace is stepping into the spotlight with new music of his own.

“I’m from Houston Texas, I got my start in music honestly from my dad’s music collection. I grew up surrounded by music in the household so the interest started there as time progressed. I just started loving and learning the craft more,” Cam Wallace explained. “My sound is honestly not just one particular sound, it’s a blend of all the music and vibes I grew up loving. From neo-soul vibes to trap, to R&B to Hip-Hop it’s all mixed in there.”

Set for release on his project 5IVE MICS which released online in late October, Cam Wallace uses “Retail” to keep the momentum going despite COVID-19’s setbacks.  While Cam is focused on developing content, shooting tons of visuals and promoting the project, he has encouraged fans to practice taking care of their mental health daily as he does while we ride out this COVID crisis.

“I had a whole solid plan and rollout lined up and COVID just kinda threw a whole plot twist in the mix. I just figured it has given me more time to prepare, and just really get the craft even more tight. I was really wanting to hit some stages this year and really get my feet wet on that side of things but COVID had other plans, so back to work I go! When it’s time, I’ll be even more ready than I was before.”
