Drake’s OVO Fest Included Star-Studded Lineup
Drake’s annual OVO Fest started on Sunday, August 4, and included some pretty big names.
However, the lineup for Monday nights’s performances included some of the hottest acts right now. He brought to the stage artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, YG, Tyga, Gucci Mane, Cardi B and Offset, Rick Ross, Lil Baby, and DaBaby.
Lil Baby even posted a photo of him and Offset on Instagram, captioning it “I got so many felonies I thought I’ll never go to Canada ‼️???????? But Drake Fucc Round An Pulled Some Strings An Now I’m On The Calendar????????”
Drake also performed some of his old tracks during his performance. This comes after he dropped his singles album, Care Package, which is a compilation of songs which were never officially released on an album. The tracks were only available on platforms such as YouTube or Soundcloud. The project includes popular songs such as How Bout Now, Trust Issues and 4pm in Calabasas.
The album is projected to debut at No. 1, according to Billboard. If Care Package does achieve this goal, this will be Drake’s ninth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. It could potentially earn more than 100,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Aug. 8. Additionally, the album was released via OVO Sound/Republic Records.

Queen Latifah To Play Ursula In “The Little Mermaid Live”
ABC recently announced the cast for The Little Mermaid Live, which includes Queen Latifah, Shaggy and Auli’i Cravalho, who played the voice of Disney’s Moana, on Monday, August 6.
Cravalho has been cast as Ariel in the live concert production, while Queen Latifah is set to play Ursula, according to People. Singer Shaggy will play Sebastian. Additional casting announcements are said to be made at a later date.
According to ABC, the production will “take viewers on a magical adventure under the sea as live musical performances by a star-studded cast will be interwoven into the broadcast of the original feature film.” The press release continued, “This never-before-seen hybrid format will feature beautifully intricate sets and costumes, with music from the original animated film and the Tony Award-winning Broadway stage version.”
This news comes after Disney’s announcement of its live-action feature adaptation of the film, which will star Halle Bailey as Ariel. The actress is known for her role as Sky on Freeform’s Grown-ish. Harry Styles is also in talks to play Prince Eric. Other actors in contention to costar include Awkwafina as Scuttle, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder.
Karey Burke, ABC’s president of entertainment, said the network is not worried about the TV version overshadowing the upcoming movie.
The live event is seemingly “unlike anything that any network has done before in terms of live-action musical.” She added that the vision is “kind of mind-blowing.”
The live musical event is set to air on ABC on Nov. 5 as apart of The Wonderful World of Disney franchise honoring the 30th anniversary of The Little Mermaid.

Chance The Rapper’s “The Big Day” Debuts At No. 2
Chance The Rapper’s latest album, The Big Day, was previously on track to become his first No. 1 album, however it debuted at No. 2 this week, behind rapper NF’s new album, The Search.
This album is Chance’s highest charting and third Top 10 album, according to Pitchfork. It debuted with 108,000 units. About 80,000 of those were in streams, making Chance’s album the most-streamed album of the week. His 2016 mixtape, Coloring Book, also had tremendous success and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard charts.
However, the 26-year-old has received some backlash for his latest project. The subject matter is overall positive, as he often talks about his faith and loving his wife. After various negative tweets about the album, Chance took to Twitter to express his concerns.
“I’m getting this crazy feeling that people want me to kill myself,” he said. “That’s not my vibe at all, but i feel the push.”
He followed by saying “And I feel like even more than that, some people want me to feel ashamed. Shame is heavy yo. And feeling shame for something that you were once prideful about is super heavy. What’s really weird is that music is the number one thing that influences how I feel on the daily.”
Despite the criticism, the album appears to be doing well. The 22-track album features artists such as John Legend, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Gucci Man, and Lil Durk. Songs such as Hot Shower, Do You Remember, and All Day Long appear to be doing well on platforms such as Spotify.

A$AP Rocky Attends Kanye West’s “Sunday Service” Post Release
A$AP Rocky was recently spotted at Kanye West’s “Sunday Service” after being detained in a Swedish jail for a month.
The 30-year-old rapper arrived back in the United States on Saturday, August 3, according to People. On Friday, he pleaded not guilty as he sat down in the court room to hear witness testimonies, including one from his bodyguard, before closing arguments were held. It was later announced that he would be released pending the judge’s ruling later this month. The ruling is expected to be announced Aug. 14. Two other members of his crew were released as well after pleading not guilty to the assault charges.
Rocky quickly took to Instagram following his release.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my fans, friends and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks. I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am for all of you,“ he said. “This has been a very difficult and humbling experience. I want to thank the court for allowing me, Bladi and Thoto to return to our family and friends. Thanks again for all of the love and support.”
He also managed to stop by West’s weekly “Sunday Service” yesterday, according to TMZ. In videos posted to Instagram, he can be seen chatting it up with ex, Kendall Jenner. The two have a history together, as they were dating on and off for a number of years. They were last spotted together romantically back in early 2017.
His attendance may be due to the fact that West and wife Kim Kardashian previously attempted to work with Donald Trump to free LSD rapper. It is rumored that the pair were part of the initial push to get Rocky’s legal predicament on Trump’s to-do list.
A Swedish prosecutor recommended a 6-month jail sentence, however Rocky will have to wait until mid-August to hear his fate, where he will have to return back to Sweden. In the meantime, it appears that he is getting back to his normal routine here in the U.S.

Sean “Diddy” Combs and Lori Harvey were spotted vacationing with her famous stepfather, Steve Harvey, amid dating rumors.
Diddy split from his long-time girlfriend Cassie nine months ago, after 11 years of dating. She is now expecting a baby with her new boyfriend, Alex Fine.
Diddy, 49, and Lori Harvey, 22, have been seen hanging out together multiple times, as they were just spotted on a romantic stroll in New York City a couple of weeks ago, according to E! News. They were also wearing matching outfits on the outing. Additionally, they were spotted together at a dinner in Malibu back in February. While they could just be close friends, many speculate that something more is going on.
However, Diddy has denied any rumors that he is dating Lori, who previously dated his 25-year-old son, Justin. Lori was last seen with Justin back in February at his father’s famous Super Bowl party.
On Saturday, the pair joined with Lori’s parents for a fancy meal during the day in Nerano, Italy. The 62-year-old talk show host and his wife Marjorie Harvey’s attendance could potentially be confirmation of the pair’s speculated romance. In some photos obtained by paparazzi, the two are seen sitting very close and even kissing at times.
This sighting has only fueled rumors that Diddy and Lori are an item. Last month, Lori even appeared to be wearing a large diamond on her ring finger, raising suspicions even more. However, she took to Instagram to set the record straight.
“I’m not engaged,” she stated on social media in June. “Stop believing everything y’all read on a blog.”
The pair has yet to collectively comment on this matter.

After a two-day trial in Sweden where rapper A$AP Rocky along with two of his friends stood trial for allegedly assaulting a man who was caught on video harassing the Harlem rapper and his crew has been granted permission to be released from jail as well as leave the country.

Swedish Prosecutors Ask For 6-Month Jail Sentence For A$AP Rocky
Swedish prosecutors are now asking the judges to impose a 6-month jail sentence for A$AP Rocky, saying that he should be judged harshly because he reportedly threw a bottle at the alleged victim in the altercation which took place on the streets of Sweden.
The bottle has been used as the main piece of evidence in the prosecution’s case, as they claim he severely injured the alleged victim by throwing the bottle at him, according to TMZ. They also state that this was excessive force and unjustified.
However, two eye witnesses recently stated that they did not see the rapper strike the victim with a bottle. They both said that they heard a bottle being “crushed”, however they do not know the circumstances or who did it. One witness also said that they did not even see Rocky holding a bottle during the altercation, even though he admitted that he was holding it but did not throw it. He was also caught on camera with the bottle hidden in his sleeve.
The two eyewitnesses admit to seeing Rocky and his crew beating and kicking the alleged victim, however.
Prosecutors told the judge that the victim’s injuries prove the force Rocky used was excessive, and suggested that just punches and pushes would have been justified. They are pushing to keep him behind bars, despite President Donald Trump’s attempts, as they state that he continues to be a flight risk.
The judges will possibly decide on Friday whether or not Rocky should be released while they come to a verdict. This could potentially take a week.
