The King Has a Seat on the Couch! T.I. Visits 106th & Park!

0
T.I. & Terrence J

While the rest of the world is intent on Watching the Throne, the undisputed King of the South is back to reclaim his! T.I. is on a non-stop smoking train to re-establish his name in the media and proper place among the hottest in the game right now. He recently stopped by BET’s 106th & Park to talk about his new book “Power & Beauty” his new street anthem, club-banging video “I’m Flexin” feat Big Krit and his clothing brand AKOO.

Sporting a rather street militant look himself, Tip was even kind enough to gift co-host Terrence J with the new Marauders Varsity jacket. Whose couch do I have to sit on to get my hands on one?

Pleasure P, Flo Rida, & Sean Kingston

A select bunch of rappers from the B list joined together for the Think Pink Rocks concert at  Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton, FL over the weekend. And while there seemed to be a shortage of performers who actually wore pink, the crowd was no less hyped about event. In attendance was former Pretty Ricky band member Pleasure P, chrome-domed Flo Rida, and a healthy looking Sean Kingston.  Other celebs included 106th & Park host and bully victim Terrence J, a tramp stamped Ray-J, the soulfully sweet Melanie Fiona and others that I’m not going to bother to mention. Take a look at the rest of the pics from the event below!

Drake Keeps His Cool and Responds to Album Leak

0

Drake pretty much gave the entire Internet a “Kanye shrug” after getting word that his sophomore album, Take Care had leaked on the internet last night. Fans took to Twitter to post links to the album, which is set to officially drop on November 15th. Drake stayed cool under pressure and tweeted “I am not sure if the album leaked. But if it did thank god it doesn’t happen a month early anymore”. Drake later tweeted, “Listen enjoy it, buy it if you like it…and take care until next time”. We all know that even with the premature leak of Take Care, the album will end up being one of the best selling albums of the year.

While the album was making its way to Mediafire, Hulkshare and other file hosting sites, Drake was in Toronto premiering one of the three tracks, he officially released over the weekend including “Crew Love” featuring The Weeknd, “Take Care” featuring Rihanna and “Lord Knows” featuring Rick Ross. Think the leak of Take Care will affect album sales? Let us know what you think. Leave a comment or tweet us.

Kanye’s At It Again.. Goes In on Lighting Guy in D.C.

0

Ye’s at it again. Watch The Throne concert goers were all witnesses to Kanye West spazzing out on a lighting engineer this past weekend at the Verizon Center in D.C.. Kilt-rocking Kanye shocked fans by interrupting his performance of “All of the Lights” to yell at the lighting guy, asking him to do the effects the way they were done during “practice”. Kanye stops the music twice until the lighting guy finally gets it together. Everybody knows Kanye’s an artist and he’s sensitive about his sh!t. Watch the video below!

Frank Ocean Cancels NYC Show Due to Illness

0

Frank Ocean kicked off his solo tour just a day before canceling the New York leg of the tour, due to sickness. Frank was scheduled to perform at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom, but disappointed fans were notified at the venue that the Odd Future singer would not be performing. The crooner took to his Tumblr page to post what we feel was an extremely sincere apology to the fans.

NEW YORK IS CANCELLED.

Fashion Alert!! The Week in Swag!!!

0
Wale at J&R Music World in NYC

What a week this has been! In case any of you were browsing those other blogs and missed out on any of Hip Hop Enquirer’s exclusive posts, here’s what you missed this week in style.  There was a lot of happenings this week particularly in New York City.

The Big Apple played host to Wale’s album signing (Ambition in stores now), the 8th Annual Keep a Child Alive benefit, and the Grey Goose presents Rising Icons concert.  While some of your favorite style stars shined as expected, there were maybe 1 or 2 who could’ve used a good polishing (or a better stylist) before leaving the house.  Take a look at the pics below to see how they measured up.  And please, by all means comment to let us know what you think of each of their looks!

I think its pretty much to say that we can lay to rest the “up & coming” phrase when referring to DC native rapper Wale.  Not only has he been signed to Ricky Rozay’s Maybach Music label, he surprised critics and fans alike with his debut studio project Ambition.  As far as his fashion choices? Well, no surprise there. Although he’s definately in tune with street chic styles there’s nothing that he ever wears that stands out. His kick game I will admit is always on point; if not the highlight of his entire look.

Kanye West on the streets of NY in a never before seen pair of Air Yeezys

As Kanye West & Jay-Z continue to make headlines across the country as part of their overmuch-hyped Watch the Throne tour, the real talk of the town was when Ye was spotted on stage in Atlanta, GA in a new pair of Air Yeezy sneakers in a new color combo.  Die-hard Ye fans and sneakerheads alike salivated at the almost blurry pics but later simultaneously rejoiced once a more clearer pic of the shoes were spotted as Kanye strutted down a New york city sidewalk.  The world is his runway!

Victor Cruz at a GQ party

With the NBA lockout still going strong, sports fans seem to be relying on football to get their athletic fix. New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz scored some major style points at an event thrown by GQ magazine this week! The 25 year old athlete who will soon be celebrating his birthday on the 11th of this month wowed this fashion editor when he appearedin a navy checked suit jacket and tie with gray slacks. Kudos to Cruz and/or his stylist for opting for color and pattern to complete a well put together look!

Tyrese at the Christian Louboutin cocktail party

Oh Tyrese.  Can I start off by saying its not that the look is “bad.” Its just that when attending a high-profile celebrity designer event you would expect a look with a little more….  polish.  The un-tucked and un-buttoned white woven shirt worn with denim is a tad bit too casual for my taste. But what do I know? I’m sure Black Ty would be able to school me on such matters as baby-momma beef and displaying raw emotion while on film next to CGI robots from outer space.

Miguel backstage at the Rising Icons concert

Say what you will about R&B star Miguel‘s questionable sexuality, but he does take risks. In the above picture, he’s seen dressed more “sober” than usual before performing his set at the Grey Goose Rising Icons concert in NYC. There’s something about his style that I can’t quite put my finger on. Its as if he borrows ideas, pieces from other trend setting male musicians such as Elvis, the late Michael Jackson, a little bit of Usher intertwined with Ricky Martin.  The one button blazer is dope and the look is completed (if not slightly enhanced) by the shoes. It kinda gives off that old school rock & roll, smokey blues club feel that some of music’s greatest used to wear back in the day; but done with a modern edge. Let this be a lesson to you all: life is not a dress rehearsal!

Who Would You Rather 3rd Wheel in a threesome With???

0
Alicia Keys and Swizz BeatzCarmelo Anthony and Lala Vasquez
The 8th annual Keep a Child Alive charity event went down at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City last night and some of your favorite celebs (read, the usual suspects) came out in full force fashion for a good cause. If you’re like me, then you often come across pics of various celebs and play a little mental game of Sex, Murder, Marry.  After viewing these pics of two of NYC’s hottest celeb couples, I decided to come up with another game I just invented called: Who would you rather 3rd wheel in a 3some with?!
This should be a hard decidion to make seeing how anyone who comes across the style section of Hip Hop Enquirer knows that I highly regard both the Keyz’ and the Anthonys’ as arguably the most stylish couples around.
Mrs. Beatz-Keys looked absolutely radiant standing next to super producer hubby Swizzy and it seems as though Swizz himself never takes a bad pic. I look how she opted for a suit jacket and pants instead of an evening gown. The cream colored jacket with the shimmering gold lame blouse is def something you kids should try at home (or out on the town)!  As for Swizz, while I would like to see him try adding color to his suits, all black everything just somehow always works in his favor.
Meanwhile, Melo and his blushing reality tv bride Lala remind me of the eternal high school couple.  He’s the popular star athlete on the basketball team and she’s the most popular girl in school who stands by his side.
I wish she would’ve left that jeweled head-band thingy at home.  Its just too distracting.  Even more so distracting is how the cut of the dress amplifies the amount of cleavage thats on display.  Not to mention the dress seductively clings to Lala’s every curve.
Take a look at a few more pics below and let us know what you think!

Future vs. Drake??! Future Goes In On Drake’s Absence in “Tony Montana” Video

1

Future at a recent listening session in Atlanta

Here we go. The video for Future’s breakout single “Tony Montana” was released last week, and it left many people wondering why Drake didn’t appear to live out his verse on the song. Future sat down with The Source to discuss Drake’s absence, and let’s just say he doesn’t sound too happy about the Young Money rapper’s decision. Hmm, if you don’t have it in writing and the artist didn’t explicitly agree to be a part of the video then don’t catch a attitude because of it. Business is business and somebody obviously didn’t explain the overall objective of the video and his involvement. Next!

T.I. ft. Big Krit “Im Flexin” Video Premiere

0

I’m Flexing Shawty! Before being released from prison, rapper T.I. told fans that he would be taking it back to the trap, and it seems that Tip is a man of his word. The video to “I’m Flexing” was shot in Bankhead, the hood T.I. reps in Atlanta, Ga.  The video sparks memories of T.I. and Young Dro’s video “Shoulder Lean”. In that particular video Dro and Tip were shot riding through the streets of ATL in a convertible drop top just like the one in the new video, “Im Flexin”. The song which was produced by rapper Big Krit is most definitely a glimpse of the Tip from back in the day when he was rapping about his 24inches.

Rising rapper Future with Aaron Reid

Special shout out to ATL’s very own Future doing big things! The southern based rapper recently performed at the Grey Goose Rising Icons event at the Paradise Theatre in New York City honoring new talents Miguel & Marsha Ambrosius.

Future, pictured above next to MTV’s Sweet 16 alumni Aaron Reid (son of music mogul LA Reid) is the latest celeb to favor the Alexander McQueen skull printed scarf.  And of course, no rapper’s ensemble is ever complete without an LV logo sprouting somewhere.  Peep more pics of Future’s performance and style below!

Chuck D of Public Enemy Sues Universal Music Group for $100 Million

0

Public Enemy’s Chuck D is still fighting the power, but this time he’s fighting Universal Music Group claiming that the label is underpaying royalties on digital downloads. Universal Music Group owns the rights to the first five Public Enemy albums. The $100 million lawsuit claims that UMG regularly miscalculates the amount of royalties due to artists by looking at MP3’s and ringtones as sales of physical records and not licenses. Chuck D’s lawyers claim that a 2010 court decision in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals sets precedent for digital music to be treated  as licenses not as “sales”.

“Chuck D has been ‘fighting the power’ for over two decades and will continue to do so through this suit in order to help all musicians, including many legacy artists who are living on fixed incomes,” said James Pizzirusso, a partner at Hausfeld LLP, the firm that is representing Chuck D.

Amber Rose on Kanye West’s “Runaway” Dedciation…

0

On Wednesday, during the Philadelphia stop of the Watch The Throne Tour, Kanye West dedicated a “Runaway”/”Heartless” mix to Amber Rose saying “To the city of Philly, I want to thank y’all for making the incredible person that this song was made for…,”. When asked about the dedication by Complex Magazine Amber Rose said that Kanye West was an “a$$hole” to her, but she feels that his dedication was an apology. Here’s an excerpt from the interview.

I’ll say this—I didn’t even know about it. This is my 50thinterview today and every single person has asked me, and it made me go see what the hell they were talking about, because I don’t keep up on the current events of Kanye. I just don’t look him up.

Kanye called me an incredible person, and I take that as an apology. And if it was an apology, I forgive him for being an asshole. I don’t hate him.

A lot of is just negativity and I don’t like to bring that energy into my life. But I did look at it and he said that, he said um, “When I said that I didn’t like your dress, I was an asshole. When I said that I didn’t like your hair, I was an asshole.”

And he was an asshole. He was. I feel like he gets that now, and he’s remorseful about being an asshole to me.

But he called me an incredible person, and I take that as an apology. And if it was an apology, I forgive him for being an asshole. I don’t hold any grudges. I don’t hate him. I want him to find a girl and for him to treat her better than he treated me.

The next girl, she doesn’t deserve that. I found pure happiness with Wiz. Why wouldn’t I want that for Kanye? I want everyone to have that, to feel the way I feel about Wiz.

Via AllHipHop.com

We think it’s safe to say that Amber Rose definitely appears to be happier with Wiz. What do you think of the dedication and her repsonse?? Tweet us or leave a comment.
