VIDEO: The Dream ft. Big Sean “Ghetto”

0

One of our favorite tracks off of The Dream’s recent online album, 1977 comes to life when he and Big Sean hit the streets of Atlanta with girls, bikes, red cups and Louis bags. The video heads back to The Dream’s humble beginnings on Atlanta’s Bankhead Highway and features nightlife scenes in the heart of the city.

The Dream whose real name is Terrius Nash has been having issues with his label Def Jam and wasn’t even sure how long the free album 1977 would be allowed to stay online. It stayed though, and Ghetto featuring hot newcomer, Big Sean became one of the standout tracks.

Jet Life to the Next Life.. CurrenSy Signs Cool Kids’ Mikey Rocks

0

Last night on Twitter, head Jet Lifer CurrenSy announced that he was signing one of his friends to Jet Life Recordings under Warner Bros. Records. Artists signed to Jet Life Recordings include Young Roddy, Trademark da Skydiver and Street Wiz. After a couple of minutes, he then tweeted that the friend was none other than Mikey Rocks of the Cool Kids. Mikey released his solo mixtape, Premier Politics in September, with production from The Alchemist and a feature from West Coast’s Casey Veggies.

Cool Kids just released their first official album, When Fish Ride Bicycles this past summer. So we’re not sure yet what’s going on with the fate of The Cool Kids as a duo, but this definitely looks like a good move for Mikey Rocks.

Poor Baby.. J. Lo Breaks Down During Performance

0

According to TMZ, Jennifer Lopez broke down in tears on stage this past weekend during her show at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun casino. Jennifer began performing her song “If You Had My Love” and told the crowd, ” a lot has changed since then”. After performing an acoustic version of the song, Lopez told the crowd that she took a trip down “memory lane”. J.Lo and her hubby Marc Anthony recently divorced after the birth of their twins. Nobody can be sure of who she became emotional over, but the actual song was recorded back in the day when Jenny was still dating Diddy.  Look on the bright side J. Lo. You may not have a man anymore, but at least you still have that nice derriere. That’ll never leave you! Well maybe it will, but you know what we mean.

Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator Chops it Up With Nas

1

East coast met West coast and young met old as Tyler the Creator (front man of L.A.’s Odd Future) got the chance to interview one of his musical influences, Nas for XXL’s November issue. Tyler the Creator just released his first studio album Goblin back in May and now he’s chopping it up with Hip Hop veteran Nas who is getting ready to release his 10th studio album, Life Is Good.

At certain points during the interview, you’re not even sure who’s interviewing who as Nas asks Tyler questions about his life and his current rise to internet and somewhat mainstream success. Nas and Tyler chop it up about everything from Nas’s influence on the young producer/rapper to Tyler and his friends egging poor, unsuspecting L.A. pedestrians. The full interview is available in the November issue of XXL and here.

President Obama Keeps Good on his Promise to America

1

With a new election approaching in 2012, President Obama recently announced that his campaign pledge to bring American troops home from Iraq will finally happen at the end of the year.  This has to be good news for the proud men and women who have served our country but it will also be great news to their families as the war has gone on for well over 9 years and has cost our country trillions of dollars.

If anyone ever doubted that President Obama didn’t have much experience in foreign policies during his previous campaign bid for the White House, he has surely put those concerns to rest with the death of Osama Bin Laden and America’s Nato affiliation which ultimately resulted in the demise of General Moammar Gadhafi. The question is will this be enough for Americans to give President Obama a second term in the White House? Some will argue that because of the high unemployment rate in this country and the fact that a massive amount of resources were used to help fix the problems of other countries will be President Obama’s litmus test to get re-elected.

While the administration didn’t take credit in the killing of Gadhafi, the President did have this to say to the people of Libya, “Across the Arab world, citizens have stood up to claim their rights, youth are delivering a powerful rebuke to dictatorship, and those leaders who try to deny human dignity will not succeed.”

Check out the President’s speech to America about bringing American soldiers home from Iraq:

Feeling Kinda Blue Drizzy? Young Money Rapper Celebrates 25th B-Day in Las Vegas!

1
Happy 25th Birthday Drizzy!

Canada’s greatest imported gift to America next to maple syrup & Justin Bieber celebrated his super sweet 25th birthday at TAO nightclub in Las Vegas.  Later on we’ll show you the pics from the rest of the party. But for the time being, we invite you to indulge into serenic, yet still flamboyant ambiance that is Drake’s shirt!

We can only guess that the dress shirt is Versace.  We’re not sure about you but there’s just something about this look that rubs me the wrong way. It’s supposed to be stylish but instead it comes off as a 1990s old Italian Vegas mobster whose cover is a manager at a used car lot.

Those gilded frames, with the watch and the rings is just a bit too much. And notice how Drake is subtly serving you teeny-hoppers sex with a freshly waxed chest peeking through the top two undone buttons. Then there’s the “come hither” predator stare he’s giving off all while gently giving the camera lens an air kiss with puckered lips.

Anyway, we’ll let you all tell us what you think about Drizzy B-Day get up.  View a few more pics below!

The Cannon Family

Anytime a child is born one must believe that it is a blessing from God so it’s no wonder why Mariah and Nick Cannon are so happy to show off their double bundle of joy to the world. In an exclusive interview with veteran newswoman Barbara Walters, the two opened up about parenthood and what each of them would like to see the children do when they grow up. Mariah even spoke about how she was reluctant to get married a second time after she and music executive Tommy Monttola divorced several years ago.

Twins Moroccan and Monroe

As an expression of his love for Mariah, Nick Cannon had his entire back tattooed with an image of her.

“I never believe that anybody really likes me,” she admitted after Cannon – who showed off his huge “Mariah” tattoo on his back – told her she’s been his crush from day one. “I always think it’s some kind of joke or something.”  Both of them have already picked the children’s career. Mariah would like for the kids to be in entertainment while Nick believes that a they should become doctors. Congrats to two lovebirds.

If the name Jhene Ako sounds slightly familiar you may remember her from back in the early 2000’s when she was marketed as the cousin of teen sensations B2K. Those days are long gone, and so is Jhene’s kiddie image. Nicki Minaj Teams Up with O.P.I. on Nail Polish Line

0

Nicki Minaj who’s no stranger to bright colors, teams up with everyone’s favorite nail polish line O.P.I. for her own six piece varnish collection. The hues are all named after songs off of Nicki Minaj’s debut album, Pink Friday. Nicki and O.P.I.’s collab will hit shelves in 2012.

This is Minaj’s second team-up with a cosmetic company. Last year, the first lady of Young Money, teamed up with cosmetic line MAC for her own lipstick. This isn’t O.P.I.’s first time working with a megastar as they’ve collaborated with other artists such as Justin Beiber and Katy Perry for their own polish lines as well. Why Justin Beiber teamed up with anyone for a nail polish line, we’ll never know, but Nicki seems like an obvious choice!

Democrats Respond to Republican Knockdown of Obama’s American Jobs Act

0
AMERICAN JOBS ACT WILL CHANGE CORPORATE TAX CODES

Obama’s American Jobs Act is a no-go in the Senate as CNN reports that the bill has been blocked. The Jobs Act would supposedly stimulate the economy by providing job creation, increasing jobless benefits,  introducing new tax credits for businesses that hire long term-unemployed and modernizing and rebuilding America without adding a dime to the deficit.  More importantly, the bill aims to create jobs for teachers and first responders. The bill is bi-partsian, but  the GOP will not budge.  President Obama and fellow Democrats are issuing public statements.

“For the second time in two weeks, every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a bill that would create jobs and get our economy going again,” Obama said in a statement.

“Republicans have once again said no to creating jobs in America and no to helping the American people. They have turned their backs on our children and the safety of our communities by blocking a bill that would put 400,000 teachers, police officers and firefighters back to work,” Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California, said in a statement.
