Hip Hop pioneer Big Bank Hank of the Sugarhill Gang passed away on Tuesday morning around 2am, after battling cancer at the age of 57. The Sugarhill Gang forever changed music by producing the first ever hip hop song in 1979, “Rappers Delight”  which was created right in the Bronx, NY and after that the birth of hip hop surfaced with the first mainstream rap song.

“So sad to hear of our brother’s passing. Rest in peace Big Bank.” said his group mates Master Gee and Wonder Mike.
