Remy Ma has a new project out, and the title alone is enough to make the group chat sit up straight. The Bronx rapper surprise-released Alimony, an EP led by “Why I Get Married?” featuring Keke Wyatt. The song has a new video, too.
But if that title has fans trying to decode her dating life, Remy offered a much simpler answer. Asked by TMZ’s Seleah Simone at a New York City listening event whether she was seeing anyone, she said she was “dating my music” and described her relationship with her art as “monogamous.” The studio, apparently, has her full attention.
Remy says she wanted Alimony to feel like a conversation between women—one that leaves room to laugh at past decisions, learn from them and keep moving. Hitmaka, Ron Browz, Platinum Sellers, Juice Dukes, DJ Mac and Crash Dummy are among the project’s producers.
The EP arrives amid a busy creative stretch that includes her role in Lifetime’s Don’t Trust The Girl Upstairs, a track with French Montana and Max B, and attention around her “W.Y.F.L.” freestyle. Remy has said that after years of other people talking about her, she’s ready to put her energy into the music. With Alimony, she’s doing exactly that—and, by her own account, keeping it exclusive.
